About Our Principal
Mrs. Cora E. Wilson-Burrell, M-Ed
Welcome to the 2018/2019 School Year!
Mrs. Burrell was appointed to lead Sinai Christian Academy, as Principal, by the Board of Directors in the spring of 2016, following more than 25 years as an educator serving students and teachers on the elementary, middle and high; and collegiate levels. Mrs. Burrell's philosophy about teaching is simple, “If you cannot reach them, you cannot teach them.” She agrees with Madeline Hunter when she said, “Kids don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care!” What she meant was you are not going to reach some students academically until you first reach them on the “human to human” level. Sometimes the subject matter in the classrooms can’t compete with the “drama” in their lives. The main ingredient missing in a lot of classrooms today is a “connection with students.”
Mrs. Burrell views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. She believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at Sinai Christian Academy. Most importantly, she firmly believes that educating students in a Christ-centered environment will prepare them to become Disciples of Christ determined to live their ordained purpose in life.
Mrs.Burrell is a certified All-Levels Principal with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and has been blessed to have taught in the classroom for more than fifteen years. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, a Masters of Education Degree in Educational Management from Strayer University in Atlanta, Georgia; and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education Degree in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University.
As a Christian Educator, she looks forward to what the Lord has in store for her each day as she humbly serves SCA. Her favorite scripture can be found in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This scripture has fortified and encouraged Mrs. Burrell and motivates her daily to pursue all that God has destined for her.
Congratulations to Mrs. Burrell on her marriage
